    4. LAWYERS FOR DEMONS.The entire concept of this book was fascinating. It is post-apocalyptic and the negative forces have won the war. This probably steps on some peoples toes and bothers them, but I thought it was brilliant. The setting, foundation and writing style were all fantastic. I was engaged enough that I couldn't put it down. i must admit this is one of my favourite worlds I have read about because it is so unique. Yet, I am seriously conflicted as to to whether or not I enjoy this book. [...]

    5. If I had had to rate Dark Light of Day based on just how the first quarter was, I would have just given it 2 stars and probably would have been pretty acidic in my review. Just all my notes are concentrated on that 25%. On the one hand, I wasn’t enjoying the writing, the similes I found first were weird and nonsensical to me and I wasn’t catching a lot due to lack of world building. On the other, I dreaded this was going to be a hideous new adult novel (a genre I am used to despise) that no [...]

    6. Review:First Line: 'The wind whipping across my face made it feel like I'd just scrubbed with camphor and bits of glass.'Dark Light of Day is set in the country of Halja, and it was here that the war between Lucifer's army and the Saviour's army was fought. Only this timegood didn't win. But it has been 2,000 years since that fateful battle has fought and the people of Halja have moved on and leant to live with the demon next door. I find this concept fascinating, I honestly don't think I've eve [...]

    7. I was very excited to read about a world ruled by demons. Think about it. What happens after the Apocalypse? Nothing? A new everything? I always wondered what the world would be like. If civilization would cease to exist or if any remnants would be left behind. How would humanity face desolation by demons?Jill Archer has crafted a world in the Noon Onyx series that is not only surviving biblical Apocalypse, but thriving in the aftermath, though in a very peculiar way.Noon is an aberration in her [...]

    8. This one was actually a re-read. It's been a couple of years since I first read this series and I remembered liking it a lot. I still like it and now when I knew what was going to happen later I could see some things in a new light. This was also one of the first new adult series I ever read and I remember finding it refreshing after all the 15 and 16-year old protagonists.*SPOILER ALERT*Dark light of day tells about Noon Onyx, a young woman living in the world of Halja where after the great war [...]

    9. From an early age, Noon Onyx promised herself that she would never reveal her most terrifying secret. She was born with waning magic, something she's despised from the moment she learned what lay within her. Her best friend, Peter Aster, has done everything to shield her from the world around her, yet nothing has prepared either of them for the next phase of their life's journey. It's time for Noon to step into the halls of St. Luck's Academy, something the two of them have dreaded since they we [...]

    10. There were a lot of things I liked about this book. I liked the world and the magic system the author created. I liked the main character. I didn't particularly care for the heroine's love interest. I really wanted her to beat him with something hard, like a baseball bat. He was pretentious and condescending. I was quite sad when she finally gave in and admitted she loved him. Maybe he'll die in the next book (probably not - *sigh*). This is a personal bias however and most readers probably like [...]

    11. I won the second book in this series as a Firstreads giveaway, and as great ast it was, of course I went out and bought the entire set the second I could. I just haven't reviewed until now. This is an amazing series. The books are fast paced but still very detailed, the characters are just awesome (well, except for Peter. He was too obvious a tool from the start), and the story is entertaining and creative.I don't need to go into summary, but the whole "the Apocalypse is over and we're just deali [...]

    13. This book has left me a mixed bag of emotions. The first would be delight, at discovering this detailed, believable world that the author created. Honestly my feelings on the characters - ALL OF THEM - almost had me leaving this as a DNF, but the world kept me engaged. While I've ready many stories set in post-apocalyptic times, this one was a truly unique direction. I felt like I was discovering a new world in this book, instead of visiting one I'd seen before. Sadly, this beautifully structure [...]

    14. Purchased to read before a book tour for book 2, Fiery Edge of Steel. Loved it. Review to come. ***********I really enjoyed this book, cannot believe it didn’t hit my radar until now. I am a host on the upcoming blog tour for book 2, “Fiery Edge of Steel” and the premise of that book seemed so good that I figured I had to read this one first! From the synopsis, we know that this is a different society. Armageddon has happened; the demons have won. That right there should tell you that this [...]

    15. I think the idea was pretty good and the book was well written, but I found myself constantly putting it aside as I lost interest. The story moved fairly slowly, which I am sure was in part so the author could explain how this world is so different after the Apocolypse. But I feel it could have been done in a smoother, and faster manner so that the reader wouldn't lose interest. I'm not sure that I will try reading the second book in the series, just because this one took over a year to read bec [...]

    16. *This review was written prior to winning a copy on . I have edited this review after re-reading the book. The revised review can be read on my blog. Also, I have raised my rating from 3.5 stars to 4 stars, because we are no longer using half stars on our blog.*Dark Light of Day is an urban fantasy (supposedly; it feels more like fantasy to me) set in a post-apocalyptic world. The demons won. Now people worship demons. There is a lot of mythological development, but the world itself left a lot t [...]

    17. *WARNING: THIS BOOK IS A PAGE TURNER AND YOU WILL HAVE TO PUT YOUR LIFE ON PAUSE*Jill Archer has a created a world with so much detail and imagination I believe it rivals the magical world of Harry Potter. Yes, I said it, toss the grenades at your will or hear me outSomewhere between apocalypse, mystery, and NA, "Dark Light of Day" drew me into a world that was strikingly different,, yet similar to the one I live in now. The story's main character is named Noon and despite her being female, she [...]

    18. This review and many others can be found on my blog - Feed Your Fiction AddictionDark Light of Day is a unique fantasy novel that takes place after Armageddon - after the demons won. The world is now run by demons, and humans with no powers (or Hyrkes, as they're called in this book) are meant to adore them.Of course, someone has to keep those demons in line, and that's the job of the Maegesters, humans with a drop of demon blood who posses waning powers - which gives them the ability to destroy [...]

    19. Originally posted on the blog: What the Cat ReadI’m not sure why I waited so long to read this book because it truly was a pleasure to read. Right from the start I was pulled into the story, and several times I found myself wanting to continue reading even though I knew I had to stop for the day. I could very easily have read this in one sitting.I loved Noon. She’s feisty, conflicted, rather sarcastic at times, caring (sometimes to a fault), and determined (though not always for the right re [...]

    20. The premise of Dark Light of Day is pretty fascinating. Armageddon happened, but the world didn't end. Lucifer won, but he's greatly weakened and hasn't been seen since the final battle. People live their lives worshiping demons, but it is both as prominent and not as prominent as you may think. It's a bit hard to describe, actually. People, basically, live like they have always lived, but there is now magic and new laws that curb demons and give everything structure.Noon is the only female born [...]

    21. Dark Light of Day by Jill Archer is about a world where the apocalypse has already occurred and the demons actually won. Despite this change in power the way of life has barely been altered. In fact, it has been so long since Armageddon that the truth about much that happened in that war has been lost or forgotten. Enter Nouiomo Onyx, or Noon as she is better known, who has waning magic, something that no female was ever supposed to have. Some would shun her, or possibly much worse, if they knew [...]

    22. I read this book some time ago, but never got around to reviewing. Simply because time ran away from me. I really enjoyed this book. There where elements I didn’t like, but Jill Archer writes so amazingly, it was a minor thing. I could abstract from it without problem.I need to explain a little about the world Jill created so you can follow.Armageddon did happen and the Demons won. But life, although a bit different, still carried on.There are two kinds of magic; the waning magic of the Maeges [...]

    23. Review originally posted on my blog: A Book ObsessionArmageddon had come and gone with the demons being the victors. The survivors worship the demons through rituals and sacrifices in order to survive. The demons in turn are held under a very strict set of rules that keeps things from degenerating into death and chaos again. These rules are upheld by those with waning magic, which until recently was only seen in males. But Noon Onyx is the exception to that rule. For years she has tried to hide [...]

    24. This review originally appeared on my blog, Leeanna.==The first in the Noon Onyx series, DARK LIGHT OF DAY is a paranormal/urban fantasy set at in a demon law school. Yup, you read that right. Noon is studying to be a Maegester, a demon peacekeeper/lawyer/executioner when necessary. Armageddon is over. The demons won, they rule Halja, and they love rules. Women of the Host are Mederi healers, men are Maegester destroyers. But something went wrong with Noon and her twin brother, Night. She’s ke [...]

    25. Fade in on a girl who is not who she was meant to be.It has been two millennia since Armageddon. A new society emerged from the ashes of a very destructive war.Noon Onyx was born into this apocalyptic world. Sure, Heaven may have been destroyed - or so it is believed - and Lucifer (Luck for short) may have died on the battlefield. Sure, demons rule the world, and Humans Errr, Hyrkes, have to worship them. Sure, everyone has to follow very strict rules or else, the demons will live how they insti [...]

    26. This reads like a YA. A really weak one. IIRC the heroine is 21 years old. There are things I really enjoyed about the book. The author has a strong voice, the ideas of humans and demons interacting, having gone to war, and now the humans have to worship demons of their choosing is a unique twist on the plethora of demon books out there.Noon Onyx is a 21 year old that's been born (or cursed depending on how you look at it) with the powers of waning magic. That's normally a power that's usually a [...]

    28. The apocalypse is over the demons won. Welcome to a world ruled by demons. The non-magical people, called Hyrkes, worship them and give offerings, as one would to a god, while the magical people, or the Host, keep them in check, and enforce their own laws on them. Noon Onyx was raised with her twin brother as Hyrkes, because they were born with a deep secret. Noon was born with waning, or death magic, and Night, her brother, was born with waxing, or life magic. This is completely unheard of, as [...]

    29. I got this book for free from a giveaway hosted by .Noon is a part of a world where Armageddon happened and the demons won the war. Now, rules exist that separate the demons from humans and as long as the humans obey the rules, the demons will not attack each other and cause another catastrophe.Noon was expected to have waxing magic, especially because she's a female and because her mother is thought of having the greatest amount of waxing power ever. Yet Noon was born with waning power while he [...]
