(Unbeknownst to me, obviously, my future wife was also at the game with her grandmother.)From that first game, being a member of the Red Sox nation was a fact of life as I grew up in New England and lived there through my college years. 2. I had problems with this book on several levels. The book has a split personality. Half of the book ties personal experiences to the Red Sox. The other half of the book reads like an encyclopedia of Red Sox history. Hence, it doesn't do either very well. 3. Read this book during a trip to Boston. Always had an affinity for the Sox. Hate how the Sox fans outnumber my Braves fans whenever they come to Atlanta, though. A formerly tortured history that is not so tortured anymore. My favorite parts in this book were about Buckner and the comparison to the Salem Witch Trials. A team with a real connection to a place.
