    1. Children want to be like many people when they grow up. As parents, it is our obligation to empower them to be the best that they can be for themselves and for other people. When I Grow Up reminds me of a situation that happened in my childhood. I remember sitting with my aunts and uncles during one of our dinner reunions. This was always a time for bragging amongst my relatives, and Grandpa would just smile every time they blurted out their most recent accomplishments: “I designed that new co [...]

    2. I absolutely love this book. I think its a great book to ready aloud to students before you do the classic writing problem what do you want to do when you grow up. This book tells the story for a child trying to figure out what he wants to be when he grows up. The illustrations are full bleeds using an interesting art technique of different shapes.

    3. "What will I be when I grow up?" The little boy in the book asks his dad the question we all wonder through childhood. He looks around him and finds all kinds of answers. The raindrop will grow up to be a roaring river, the caterpillar will grow into a butterfly. The lovely layout of this book makes the answers to these questions much like a guessing game. On one page, a picture of a youngster in bold acrylic colors with a die cut reveals a glimpse of the future. For instance, the little chick i [...]

    4. i would choose this book to read to children because it is a great book to help them set goals of what they want to be when they grow up. also in the book it is very positive for the children because everyone who wants to be something when they get older in the book says when they do become what they want to be their going to be the best at it.learnin experiences1. I would have the kids draw a portrait of what they want to be and share with the class why they want to be what they want to be.

    5. A little boy is coloring at his desk, and asks himself “What will I be when I grow up?” this sets forth the narrative in this father/son picture book.I particularly liked this book because of the bright water colors, aqua blues, banana yellows, and peachy oranges. Each page has a small cut out and when you turn the page, it reveals the “grown up” version of the object depicted on the page before. The narrative in the story is short, only a sentence long on each page making this a quick r [...]

    6. This book is a children's book that is very cute. It is about a boy who wonders what he will be when he grows up. Then, the raindrop, sprout, tree, caterpillar, and chic all say that he could be like them and they each tell what they will be when they grow up. But the little boy decides he will be just like his dad.The book is very inspiring but it also tells all about what each thing ends up being so is educational as well!

    7. This is lovely and I'm thinking of using it for story time. However, the cut paper windows are going to mean I may have to use it exclusively for story time. Otherwise this book will be ruined in one or two uses by parents who think it's fine for their brilliant toddlers to turn the pages unsupervised.Truthfully, I don't see a POINT to the cut windows. They really don't add anything extra to the art work and are little more than a gimmick--a gimmick that adds no UMPH! to the package.

    8. This is a good book to introduce the topic of growing up. You can read this book and ask the kids what they want to do when they grow up. I feel like the book is very creative in the cut outs it has. The author and illustrator really knew how to work well to make this book interesting. It also introduced what animals become when they grow up; for example a caterpillar turns into a butterfly. I really enjoyed reading this book. Definitely recommend this book.

    9. This story opens up with a young boy and his father drawing together. The little boy asks his father what will he be when he grows up. He is answered by several different elements of nature. For example the caterpillar says "You could be like me. When I grow up I will be the most colorful butterfly in the meadow."In the end the child decides that when he grows up he wants to be just like his daddy.

    10. When I Grow Up tells of a young boy looking all around him, describing what will happen when he grows up. He talks about the rivers, leaves, and the young animals such as the birds and worms. The illustration is artistic and contain a cut out page blending right into the next and works very well with a young audience.

    11. This is a sweet story that takes a look at what different things and animals become as they grow and get older. The little boy discovers in the end what he truly wants to grow up to be like. The cut outs in the illustrations are fun and the pictures are bright and colorful. Our girls liked this story.

    12. This one was a nice little book. My little girl liked the cut outs. I had my husband read this one with our son. The pictures are bright and colorful and the text is sparse, so it is great for very young readers for a read aloud.I like that the little boy wants to be just like his dad.

    13. "You could be like me," said the raindrop. "When I grow upI will be the fastest river" and other creative statements about various animals/things. Beautiful illustrations, few words per page. Boy decides to be like Dad when he grows up.

    14. this is a beautifully illustrated and sweet story that I would use for a storytime. The die cuts are only moderately impressive.

    15. A boy learns how many things in nature grow up to be big and important. In the end, he wants to be like his dad. Cute, but it's been done.

    16. Barely finished reading this when a patron looked down and said, "Oh, that book looks really cute - is it available?" Nature's own startlings help show how growing up can be a wonderful process.

    17. This is a cute story and simply, but nicely illustrated. I thought it was an appropriate one for daddy to read.

    18. Another book chosen by youngest at the library-he liked the cut outs foreshadowing what was to happen on the next page.

    19. This book had amazing pictures that really make your mind start moving. I think this book would be great to read if you were talking about careers
